How do you know how far a learner can go?
I often ask myself this question when I first meet a student for tuition or coaching.
I see my role as expanding the horizons of what they think is possible. And I set out to create a new standard for them to aspire to.
If they are not yet reading enthusiastically, then I set myself the challenge of introducing them to something they will find intriguing. I want them to enjoy reading.
And if they are just starting to get interested in a topic, then I try to show them how much more there is to learn.
Visit our blog and you will find our “Student Showcase”. These posts celebrate outstanding student progress where you can see how, over time, our learners have developed their writing skills far beyond anything they could have dreamed possible.
I have been coaching students for Oxbridge application this year in a range of subjects, including Business, Economics, Law, Material Science, Physics and Philosophy. Their initial thoughts are often undeveloped. With expert guidance, they gain the confidence to produce well-developed presentations that can be up to 30 minutes long.
And when I challenged our youngest student, who is only nine years old, to extend her creative writing into several different chapters, I never guessed she would make it to Chapter 20 (and she is still going strong…).
