How should students prepare for a university interview?
Schools do not always have the spare capacity in terms of time and staffing to provide intensive interview preparation:
- Students are often not used to talking about their ideas and need practice.
- Students need experience in answering “surprise questions”. These test their ability to apply existing knowledge and understanding to new and unfamiliar situations.
Our Director, Michael Hartland, trains schools and students internationally. He recently worked with students holding interview offers from Oxford and Cambridge at St. Edmund’s School, Canterbury in his role as an Associate of NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education).
Students receive clear and specific guidance for interview confidence, a detailed interrogation of their personal statement and intellectually challenging “surprise questions”.
We always see progress when students receive our interview practice sessions.
We wish St. Edmund’s students every success with their interviews.
