In my experience as a former headteacher, students need a year to prepare for their university application if they are going to be successful in applying to the best universities in the world, including Oxford and Cambridge.
Nurture Your Uni Dream is our programme that bridges the gap between Year 11, Year 12 and university application.
University entrance is so competitive that it’s not enough for students just to be predicted top grades:
- they need to demonstrate they have gone above and beyond with their reading
- they need to show involvement in super-curricular activities like projects and competitions
- they need to be able to articulate their intellectual interests in their personal statement and at an interview.
I have worked with students planning to apply to a wide variety of subjects this year – including Economics, Engineering, Geology, Maths, Medicine, Philosophy and Physics. I have guided their wider reading and coached them in the high-level presentation and interview skills they will need.
